J. M. Barrie
The Little White Bird is a novel by J. M. Barrie, published in 1902, ranging in tone from fantasy and whimsy to social comedy with dark aggressive undertones. The book attained prominence and longevity due to several chapters written in a softer tone than the rest of the book, in which it introduced the character and mythology of Peter Pan. Those chapters were later published separately as Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens as a children's book. The Peter Pan story began as one chapter of a longer work and during the four years that Barrie worked on the book prior to publication, grew to an "elaborate book-within-a-book" of over one hundred pages.
The complete book has also been published under the title The Little White Bird, or Adventures in Kensington Gardens. Project Gutenberg has digitized the full text of the book for no-cost download availability in the United States, where the book is in the public domain.

亨利·赖德·哈格德
"The Ghost Kings" was H. Rider Haggard's 32nd novel, out of an eventual 58. Written during the years 1906 and '07, it first saw book publication in September 1908. This novel was penned immediately before Haggard set to work on another African adventure tale, "The Yellow God," but of the two, "The Ghost Kings" is the superior creation. It is more exciting and more detailed, with a greater emphasis on fantasy elements and the supernatural. Indeed, with the exception of its South African setting and the inclusion of such real-life characters as the Zulu chief Dingaan (brother of Chaka) and councilor Mopo (both of whom also featured prominently in Haggard's 1892 masterpiece "Nada the Lily"), the tale could almost be a novel of hard fantasy.

Screenwriters Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana adapted the story for the film of the same name, released in 2005. 1913. From the play of Bayard Veiller. The book begins: The lids of the girl's eyes lifted slowly, and she stared at the panel of light in the wall. Just at the outset, the act of seeing made not the least impression on her numbed brain. For a long time she continued to regard the dim illumination in the wall with the same passive fixity of gaze. Apathy still lay upon her crushed spirit. In a vague way, she realized her own inertness, and rested in it gratefully, subtly fearful lest she again arouse to the the full horror of her plight. In a curious subconscious fashion, she was striving to hold on to this deadness of sensation, thus to win a little respite from the torture that had exhausted her soul.

Dare I say it? Dare I say that I, a plain, prosaic lieutenant in therepublican service have done the incredible things here set out for the loveof a woman--for a chimera in female shape; for a pale, vapid ghost ofwoman-loveliness? At times I tell myself I dare not: that you will laugh, and cast me aside as a fabricator; and then again I pick up my pen andcollect the scattered pages, for I MUST write it--the pallid splendour ofthat thing I loved, and won, and lost is ever before me, and will not beforgotten. The tumult of the struggle into which that vision led me stillthrobs in my mind, the soft, lisping voices of the planet I ransacked for itssake and the roar of the destruction which followed me back from thequest drowns all other sounds in my ears! I must and will write--itrelieves me; read and believe as you list.
